The spring flora is suddenly in absolute abundance! The snowdrops, narcissi, cyclamen, hellebores and anemones just to name a few are all showing their colourful and patterned petals, it’s time to soak up this heavenly display and feed those senses with the uplifting feeling of hope, inspiration and excitement that spring guarantees to bring. I have captured snowdrops at Painswick and Colesbourne recently, however more closer to home I couldn’t help but grab the moment that will so quickly pass.
This morning the combination of the frost and the sunshine made everything sparkle all around so I thought I’d capture the crocus & anemones at Rose Cottage. This garden is nurtured and loved by Patsy, a keen plantswoman, who tends to her garden everyday come rain or shine. What used to be a lawn is now a bejewelled carpet of treasures and each season you can’t help but sneak a sideways glimpse through the gate to feast the eyes.
Even though the already opened crocus have collapsed under the weight of the frost they are rather wonderful to capture, the colours are more vibrant and their bright little saffron stamen are so striking and sculptural. I loved the way the anemone seems to be stroking its dainty petals over the crocus bud, almost encouraging it to open up.
Welcome back Spring.
